Hazardous Waste Management

Wastes (gaseous, liquids, or solids) that contain chemicals that could contaminate soil, groundwater, sediment or surface water are hazardous wastes.  Hazardous wastes are regulated by the federal government (see Resource Conservation and Recovery Act).

All hazardous wastes present a material threat of a release to the environment.  Waste management attempts to control how hazardous wastes are handled, stored, transported, and disposed in an attempt to control this material threat of a release.  Furthermore, waste management practices put into place failsafe’s in the event that a release occurs that control the migration of a discharge, routing that discharge to secondary containment or collection basins that prevent the contaminants from reaching the environment.

As an off-shoot to hazardous waste management is personnel training, personnel monitoring and OSHA compliance.

McGaha Consulting, Inc. has a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) trained in the property handling, disposal, and management of hazardous waste.  We are familiar with preparing SPCC plans and we have prepared Hazard Communication Programs for industrial processes.  We can assist in compliance with OSHA regulations and have performed personnel training and personnel monitoring.
